Installation was super easy!
I bribed Mr. Oilburner to do it. :)

| GASP! Remove Final Drive bolts! |

| Oxygen, Stat!! Final Drive bolts out! |

| Preview. The wheel may be missing, but it's looking pretty darn good. |

 |
| Ssmmooookkkiiinnnnn'! |
Addendum:
There is actually quite a gap between the hugger and tire. (Ignore the flat topping on my tire...) And the hugger is mounted on the swing arm. Therefore it bounces with the tire. No chance of them hitting...unless something penetrates the tire. Knock on wood...
Very pretty!!! Actually your bike looks very nice, I was in the local BMW shop this afternoon having a we browse, and I did think of you. I am very keen to get a second bike, but just not sure on which direction to go.

When I saw the photo in your last post, I didn't have any idea what it was supposed to be. I had to look at you're Flickr Photostream to see where the part fit. Looks way too functional to be a farkle. And it looks like you had great weather for a test ride. ;-)

Very cool! Looks great and I'm sure it will do its job perfectly, it's amazing that something that looks ordinary, quite ugly, looks so good when it's in place.

ReplyDeleteThat is exatly its intended purpose. I've added an addendum to the post to show you the spacing between hugger and tire. The average distance is about 3/4 of an inch. There isn't any way for the tire to hit as the hugger is mounted to the swingarm with the tire. So it moves with the tire.

Would you be depressed to learn that I haven't washed my bike in about 6 months and that I have ridden it in the rain? The bike's color just lends itself to hiding dirt. Good thing there isn't much chrome on this thing. :)

ReplyDeleteWell that's cool as all getout! And yes, this does qualify as" riding farkle." It lookls great! It's extremely functional. And it's mechanically sophisticated. I too would have gotten the "willies" as the final drive bolts came out.

Thank You, SonjaM! I was thinking the same thing. Though I am a little biased. :) And on that note, I would definitely urge you to take one out for a spin if you ever do decide you might be in for an upgrade. It is definitely a sleeper.

Man, I didn't like to see those bolts loosening. Fingers crossed there aren't repercussions.
