Video on the Blue Ridge

I had the most difficult time culling through hours of video, trying to whittle something down to just a few minutes.  How do you decide what stays and what goes from hours of perfect riding representing 3 great days into just minutes??  In the end I had to close my eyes and just start deleting clips at random.  I liked them all, but they just couldnt' remain.  I hope you enjoy it as much as Mr. Oilburner and I do/did/hope to do again.  :)

glad you had a good weekend together. Now I want to see the discarded clips . . .

You were lucky to have good, warm, dry weather. I keep all of my clips even though you may never see them. I archive to DVD, you just never know what you may decide to do on a rainy winter's day

That was very nice indeed. I like the tunnels at beginning and end - a sort of a rebirth experience!

It's also good to see smooth roads and your front suspension gliding over the small bumps.

I think that Bob should keep his rainy winter day fantasies to himself -;)

  3. Thanks for taking us on this lovely autumn ride, and the song is a good match for the scenery.

  4. That was a wonderful video. Just what I needed as I'm going through bike withdrawal right now. Beautiful area. I'll be down in Georgia for a meeting but won't have much time to look around.

  6. The video brought back good memories of the Parkway, swaying back and forth thru the curves, looking at those fall colors!
Out here, fall is moving toward winter with a foot of snow in the mountains tonight.

  7. Hi Bob!

LOL. I guess I wasn't clear on my deletion criteria. :) I had scoured through the videos and clipped out many, many, many sections of interesting or pretty portions of the ride. It was these I had to randomly scrub to get the length/time down.

All video is safely tucked away on the array. But I do like your idea of writing it off to [archive] DVD. I am starting to grow my collection...as I am sure you understand.

No, I cannot fathom that thought of deleting anything imagery related. I still have blurry pictures and pictures of toes and boots (when playing with lens) that I cannot delete.

Any time you want to see the "long" versions, let me know and I can upload them to the ftp site. :)

  8. Hi Nikos!

The smooth little roads were a far cry from your jouncing dirt tracks, hunh? :) Did you see the little rough patch in one of the tunnels? LOL

I love the tunnels too. I had clipped most of the tunnels to include in the video...but they had to go for the sake of time. I just couldn't resist the double one at the end though.

  9. Hi SonjaM,

I'm glad you enjoyed, and wished you could have been there. There were some dirt roads off of the BRP that I think Nella and you would have enjoyed. :) I was trying to find a banjo song for the "Appalachians", but Twisted Road was just so perfect to convey the peacefulness. Thank You!

  10. Hi RichardM,

Thank You! I am glad it was able to cheer you up a little. Drop me a line if you are interested and we can grab dinner or something if you are in the surrounding Atlanta/Athens area. Can always see about renting (or demo'ing) a bike (BMW) and take you to some nearby locales. :)

  11. Hi Jack!

I'm a glad you enjoyed the video! The big effort is to not just hop on the bike and go back to immersing myself into the woods! I watch that video and remember all those curves and colors and smells...sigh...spring. Definitely spring. :)

  12. Looks like an awesome drive! I still can't get over the feeling of the curves and the speed, but I suppose that's part of the fun for you, eh? ;)
