Off-roading an RT

The title isn't quite as fancy or drastic as it sounds, but I still get a kick out of watching the RT spew gravel.  Mr. Oilburner assures me that he was completely in control, despite how it looks on the video.  Given his many years of off-road riding I would tend to believe him.  But who catches air with an RT?!?!  ;-)  Beware, there is the sound of my little sewing machine engine...don't blast your ears off.

Big hugs and thanks to DaviMack for pointing me to VideoSoft video editing and dubbing software.  Worked like a charm!!

  1. Just a bit more speed on the RT and you would have had a video with viral possibilities on youTube.

I recently put a few hundred miles on a R1200 RT and found it less than fun on gravel.

Fine video. I wish I had the patience to make a few.

  2. Hi Steve! Thanks for the comment. I read your assessment of the RT and found it great. Wound up reading most of it to Mr. Oilburner and laughing. He wants to find some street/knobbies so he can off-road it more often. I think he is crazy. LOL

Like you, I am a shutterbug, and find getting on/off stopping/turning around cumbersome with a big bike at times. Makes me think I might need a scooter... :-)

    Thanks!

  3. While scooters get some sideways glances (or worse) from a lot of riders the reality is that a Vespa GTS250 will run down the road at 75mph and keep up fine with just about anything legal on two lane roads. And it is far more useful for taking pictures. It's just so easy to manuever. How often will you lift your motorcycle over a big log?

  4. If you were to move to Europe (or even VISIT), a scooter would do just fine. :)

  5. Steve, do scooters get knocked by the big riders? I'm usually smiling at them, tho can't be seen through the helmet. I don't shake a stick at them considering I ride with someone that has a scooter and he can outride just about anyone on a big bike. And he is on bald tires?

The argument can be made of why lift the bike over logs when you should be riding it over them! ;-)

Inherently I just think the scooter is definitely easier for photography. Forgot to mention, and need to post to your blog, but you have some GREAT photos.

  6. David! Is that a hint?? :-) I know, I have been remiss and really, really, really want to plan something. If I rent a scooter are you and T. going to join me?? That would be so much fun!!
