Does Anyone Else Have to Put Up With This?

I'm all for a clean bike, but this is taking it to extremes. Dismantling the bike, piece by piece, and washing it in the kitchen sink is not productive!

hehehe...ok...that isn't quite how the story goes...but it sounds good.

Funny the measures that Oilburner will go to to ride my bikes! This time around, he caught a big nasty screw in the rear tire.

The resulting situation looked like this:

Therefore the days ride looked like this:

Aahhhh...so nice to see the girls together. Luckily I was going to take the R1200R out today. Oilburner doesn't get to ride the R1200R. He is not responsible enough not to pop wheelies... It has been awhile since I have been able to ride the "R"...and it felt GREAT!! Such a smooth engine, so much power, aahhhh. Smiles all around.

But what I haven't told you is that this wasn't the first time. Back in March we had another day of perfect weather and hadn't been out for awhile. Again...Oilburner's bike looked like this:

Desperately waiting for a new pair of shoes. So the days ride looked Iike this:

The first time my girls were head to head. I'm so proud!!

  2. Lori:

Keep your MITTS OFF of MY "R". I want to keep the mileage down.

Glad you had a nice ride, and if I ever make it there I want to wash my wheel in your sink too

    1. Bah...you're gonna wind up with the Striple or Tiger or something. MY little R is gonna have a fun life here.

And you have another think coming if you think you will be washing any bike parts in my sink. Oilburner barely came out of it unscathed...

  3. Lori,

Great photos and tale! If I'd tried Oilburner's trick, I'd have been sucking hospital food through a straw! I do know someone who kept his Norton Commando in their lounge whilst their garage was being refubished though and lived to tell the tale!

Lovely to see the 2 bikes together!

    1. Geoff, it was a close call between laughing and Oilburner ending up maimed. :)

As for the Norton, did he ever start it while in the house??

  4. A friend of mine needed to install new wheel bearings and HAD to heat up the wheels inside of the oven. His wife was not very pleased, but I think he is still among the living....

Nice shot of the two bikes.

    1. Wow. I bet that must have smelled wonderful cooking in the oven...to him... I hope he took the wife out for a lovely dinner later.

Though he has had metal parts with new coats of paint cooked in the oven to harden. Didn't smell too nice.

  5. Lori,
I don't know what to say....that hasn't already been said. I have no stories about ovens, lounges, or dens. But, wanted to speak up so you know I'm listening :)

    1. Hi Keith! Thank you! But are you sure you have cooked something in the oven that didn't belong? Or have you always been proper and cooked Heather cookies?

  6. Funny how Oilburner keeps fining way to ride your rides. What's hers is ours, is that how it goes?

Either way I am glad you get to ride and play together. Having a third bike can be a good thing when one is out of commission.

    1. You are so correct! I keep thinking the same thing! He's just after me for my bikes. :)

Though it is convenient having that third bike around. I'm just glad mine are doing well. Knock on wood.

  7. Dear Lori:

It is much better to find the screw in the tire, with the bike in the garage, as opposed to halfway through a curve as the last puff of air hisses out of it. I thought Mr. Oilburner looked sweet taking care of your tire. With most other guys, you'd have been changing the tire with one hand and making breakfast with the other.

Funny line about washing the bike in the sink, part by part.

    Fondest regards,
